We believe that Government and developmental capital has a critical role to play in areas where there are market failures and private capital is hard to find. We work closely with the Government and multilateral agencies to design and implement interventions for these underserved sectors and areas. Our initiatives have been able to leverage significant external capital into these areas by mitigating the perceived risk of the private sector.
Build Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in your region
CIIE is actively engaging with State Governments and developmental agencies to catalyze entrepreneurship in underserved states. While we ourselves were created with support from Gujarat State Government, we are working with Rajasthan Government’s RIICO and Maharashtra’s MIDC to help strengthen entrepreneurship in these states. Startup Oasis has been set-up by us in Jaipur in partnership with RIICO as the state’s flagship incubator and CIIE Pune centre is coming up with support from MIDC.
Support entrepreneurship in underserved sectors
We work closely with central Government ministries and developmental agency to create interventions to support entrepreneurs and innovative solutions in impact sectors. With support from Government of India’s Department of Electronic and Information Technology we created India’s first accelerator program in 2008-09, which has now paved way for private accelerators across country. With support from Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, International Financial Corporation, Asian Development Bank and Rockefeller Foundation, we are pushing the boundaries of energy and cleantech incubation in India. World Bank and foundations like Arghyam are partnering with us for creating more entrepreneurs in water sector.
Together with multilateral agencies like the Rockefeller Foundation, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Kauffman Foundation, CIIE has created innovative programs to acquire domestic capital for impact investing and built capacities of social enterprise incubators.
